Episode 01 - The SAnthi Mantras - why we recite "SAnthi" thrice.
The SAnthi mantras – reason why we recite “SAnthi” thrice:
Each major work like the Upanishads begins and also concludes with an invocation called the SAnthi mantra. And, that mantra concludes with the invocation: “Om. SAnthi.SAnthi.SAnthi.”
The reason why most of the recitations of the Vedas, upanishads and paraayana stotras end with "Om, SAnthih, SAnthih, SAnthih" needs to be understood : The prayer "SAnthih" (literal meaning “peace”) is recited once for our engagement with the recitation /prayer to be shorn of "AdhyAthmikam" meaning interruptions, disruptions, distortions flowing fromwithin us - physical discomfiture/illness, mental disturbance, etc.; the second time, it seeks the prayers to be shorn of "Adhibhouthikam" meaning interruption, disruption, distortion, that could flow fromother humans, or living beings; the third time, it seeks protection frompossible disruptions etc. from"Adhidhaivikam", meaning, forces of Nature/Other Gods.
